The Pepsi Southern Original is an annual competition that looks for an undiscovered country artist. Submissions are collected online, regional competitions are held across the Southeast and the Finale takes place in Panama City Beach, FL the day before Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam. Talent is selected based on a variety of criteria and the judging panel consists of Executive Producer and Manager Rendy Lovelady, PCB Entertainment Representatives, and Pepsi Representatives.

The reigning Pepsi Southern Original, Rachel Lipsky won two 10-hour days of studio time at the Castle Recording Studios in Franklin, TN, a music video shoot by Nashville Production House, 3-day accommodations provided by The Resort Collection during Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam, 10 General Admission ticket to Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam and the grand privilege to open for Blake Shelton, Cassadee Pope, Neal McCoy and Kirstie Lovelady on Sunday night of Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam 2014. The 2013 Pepsi Southern Original, Andrew Salgado won a development deal with a Nashville management company, access to national booking, recording of a single, a music video and the grand privilege to open for Toby Keith, Eli Young Band, and Darryl Worley on Saturday night of Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam 2013.
